Meet David

David Petty

David Petty, a lifelong resident of Lyman, is a community advocate, marketing consultant, and champion for small business growth in Spartanburg County.

David works in nonprofit small business development, helping entrepreneurs access the resources and strategies they need to succeed. In this role, he helps connect business owners with the resources, tools, and strategies they need to succeed. Through his consulting firm, he also advises local companies on marketing, branding, and business development — combining creativity with data-driven strategy to help them grow.

Before launching his consulting career, David built a successful track record in the textile industry at ADO Corporation in Spartanburg. He joined the company in 2016 as Marketing Manager, was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and later became Chief Marketing Officer. His leadership extended across nearly every facet of the company’s operations, preparing him for the challenges of guiding teams and navigating complex organizations.

David’s roots in Lyman run deep. He attended District 5 schools — including Lyman Elementary, Beech Springs Intermediate, D.R. Hill Middle, and James F. Byrnes High School — and is a 2008 graduate of Spartanburg Christian Academy. In 2012, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in General Business from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. While at Samford, he also led the university’s student preaching program, Samford Sunday.

Faith and family have always been central in David’s life. He grew up worshiping at First Baptist Lyman, where his family has been active for generations, and today is a member of First Baptist Greenville. He maintains strong ties to downtown Lyman, where he is restoring his grandparents’ home — the same house Eugene and Margaret Stribling moved into in the 1930s.

When he’s not working with small businesses or serving his community, David enjoys hiking, cooking a nice meal, and spending time with his labradoodle, Arielle.
