David’s Priorities for Lyman
Smart, Strategic Growth
Lyman is one of the fastest-growing towns in South Carolina. Growth isn’t the enemy — but it has to be managed with foresight. Too often, new neighborhoods are added without the infrastructure, roads, or services needed to support them. As Mayor, David will work to ensure growth strengthens our community rather than strains it.
- Maintain and upgrade infrastructure — including roads, sewer, and public services — so it can support both current needs and future growth.
- Preserve green spaces and neighborhoods that give Lyman its small-town character.
- Ensure housing remains affordable while protecting a strong and diverse tax base.
Downtown & Business Development
Our downtown is the heart of Lyman, and small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. Together, they tell our story, create jobs, and give neighbors a place to gather. But too many storefronts sit empty, and too many entrepreneurs struggle to find the support they need. David believes revitalizing downtown and supporting local business growth are critical to Lyman’s future.
- Launch a Structural Improvement Grant program to help property owners repair vacant downtown buildings so they can once again house thriving businesses.
- Establish a Downtown Overlay District with design guidelines to preserve the character, history, and walkability of Groce Road and surrounding areas.
- Support small business owners with resources and policies that make it easier to open, grow, and thrive in Lyman.
- Strike a balance between welcoming new industries and protecting the local businesses that make our community unique.
Open Communication & Transparency
Government works best when it listens. For too long, residents have felt left in the dark about decisions that affect their neighborhoods. David is committed to a Mayor’s office that is open, responsive, and transparent.
- Create a Community Advocate position at Town Hall to serve as a direct liaison between residents and local government, ensuring clear communication and timely updates.
- Expand opportunities for citizens to be heard — both at Town Council meetings and through online forums where residents can share feedback and ask questions.
- Ensure council packets, budgets, and public documents are easily available online so residents can review and learn about important issues affecting the Town.
